The basic activity of Metalographic Laboratory is Metallographic analysis of metallic materials. Laboratory in its composition has Department for optical microscopy and Department for thermal processing.

In the Department for optical microscopy besides analysis of micro-and macro-structures hardness testings in the macro and micro area are being performed.

Laboratory has a system of quality according to standard BAS EN ISO / IEC 17025/2006, and is accredited from the Institute for Accreditation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BATA) for testing of microstructures of metallic materials by methods of optical microscopy.

This laboratory has the approval of the Croatian Register of Shipping (HRB) for performing metallographic analysis of metallic materials which is updated in October 2008.

It has modern equipment:

• Stereo microscope Technival 2

• Modern Olympus optical microscope with additional equipment, which includes two cameras, analog and digital PC with software Analysis for storing images from a microscope and for quantitative analysis

• Color printer for printing images from a computer, microscope and camera

• Zwick device for hardness testing with the range of loads from 0.098 N to 298N

• Photo-camera Olympus C - 900 ZOOM .

Dilatometer for dilatometric analysis of steel, device for testing hardenability and furnaces for the performance of various thermal treatments.
